I fell in love with California before even stepping foot on this coast. In college I'd spend endless hours looking at our extensive Photo Library. We even had a collection of original prints as well and we were required to wear archival-safe gloves for handling them. I loved the work of Minor White and Ansel Adams. I loved the thousand tones between black and white that they were able to exhibit in one black and white print. I was never much of a landscape photographer and now that I no longer shoot in large format, I'm even less compelled. Still I love to photograph people and pairing my subjects with the perfect landscape as a backdrop is just as enjoyable as taking the photo itself. Here are some photos of some of my favorite little men. Each is just shy of 15 months and they're the most courageous explorers. No doubt they touched the coldest water that their soft skin has ever felt today. The Pacific is one frigid ocean. Cold, yet, beautiful. Enjoy!
